The Recording Academy honored Sens. John Cornyn, R-Texas and Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., as well as recording artist Sheryl Crow at the Grammys on the Hill event on Tuesday evening.

Cornyn and Klobuchar were recognized with awards for their legislative efforts to help the music industry, particularly the Save Our Stages Act that offered financial support to venues that lost money during the COVID pandemic.

Both Cornyn and Klobuchar also introduced a bill in December 2023 aimed at "increasing transparency in ticket sales, protecting consumers from fake or dramatically overpriced tickets, and holding bad actors who engage in illegal ticket sale practices accountable."

Crow was honored for her "contributions to support music creators" such as her advocacy surrounding the dangers Artificial Intelligence poses to recording artists.

"While we will not be able to outsmart AI, we must come together," Crow, a 9-time Grammy Award winner said after accepting her award. "We must come together and attempt to protect artists everywhere and the contributions that they make to our humanity by creating guardrails to protect what is ours,"

The Recording Academy is advocating for lawmakers to pass bills that protect the "image, likeness and voice of individual creators from AI fakes through legislative measures such as the No AI FRAUD Act and the No FAKES Act discussion draft."

The organization also wants the "live event ticket marketplace to better protect artists and fans" from inflated ticket prices through legislation including the Fans First Act and the TICKET Act, according a news release.
