Trump announces GOP to host first ever Midterm convention in Dallas
The convention will take place later this year and run from Sept. 9-10.
President Donald Trump announced Tuesday that the Republican Party will host the first ever Midterm convention this year in Dallas, Texas.
The convention will take place later this year and run from Sept. 9-10. The venue has not been announced so far.
"It will be fantastic! It has never been done before, and will be a truly historic event," Trump posted of the convention on Truth Social. "We are going to celebrate the GREAT AMERICAN COMEBACK, and the incredible successes of the American People who transformed our Country through the America First Agenda.
"At the event, we will have hardworking Americans, our great innovators, entrepreneurs, manufacturers, first responders, and job creators who are powering our nation's Golden Age, and proving that America's best days are still ahead of us," he added.
The Republican National Committee also confirmed the convention in a statement shared with Just The News. RNC Chairman Joe Gruters described the event as a "Trumpapalooza," that showcases the president's America First agenda.
"This historic Midterm Convention will highlight President Trump’s many accomplishments and unwavering commitment to restoring America," Gruters said. "President Trump will unite Republicans around our shared vision, build momentum, and deliver an incredible convention for our Party."
Trump teased the convention last year and previously floated Las Vegas as a possible location.
Both major political parties hold national conventions during presidential elections every four years, but do not typically hold midterm conventions that would focus on congressional and statewide elections.
